Of course I want you to hire me to entertain you and your guests.
But before you do, I encourage you to call around. Talk to other entertainers. In fact - here's a list of questions you should ask them.
Could you please tell me about what area of magic you specialize in?
There are more than 100 areas of magic to specialize in. No one can do them all and if anyone tells you they can provide entertainment for any occasion - run!
I specialize in family entertainment. You never have to worry about my sense of humor offending anyone, and I know how to entertain a family audience.
How long have you been performing?
Unfortunately, anyone can walk into any magic shop, buy a few tricks, and call him/herself a magician.
I have been performing since I was 15 - more years ago than I care to admit to.
Is your show guaranteed? What if we're really not entertained?
I don't know of any other entertainer's who will guarantee their performance. You pay your money and you take your chances.
My performance is guaranteed. If my show fails to entertain your guests, you don't pay. It's that simple. And just in case you're wondering - no one has ever requested their money back!
Do you wear a costume?
Oddly enough, most children are afraid of clowns when they get up close and personal. And there's nothing worse than thinking you're hiring a traditional magician only to find out you've hired a gothic magician.
I usually perform in a traditional tuxedo.
What tricks do you do?
This isn't a good question, but it is one a lot of people ask. The truth is that you wouldn't know the names of the trick we do. What you really want to know is are we selecting effects that are age appropriate.
Every effect I choose for every show I perform is audience tested and age appropriate. I don't try to dazzle 5-year-olds with card tricks.
